W Punta De Mita, Mexico: A Day in Paradise
My friends and I spent a day at the W Punta de Mita resort in Mexico and it was even better than we expected! We had an Airbnb in Sayulita but wanted to spend a day at a resort in either Punta Mita or Punta de Mita. I found resort day passes through ResortPass.com, which made booking extremely easy. There were a lot of resorts to choose from, but the W stood out to us, and we ended up super happy with choosing to spend our day there.
FIRST IMPRESSION
After a 30-minute taxi ride from Sayulita, we arrived at the W and were transported by golf cart to the resort lobby. Upon checking in, we were provided with welcome drinks (they were delicious!), given a tour of the property, and then we picked out our day beds by the pool. We right away loved the vibrant modern decor, the cleanliness, and the exceptional service.
FOOD/DRINKS:
We found the cocktails to be delicious! Especially their “welcome cocktail” and the cocktail of the day, which was some type of basil and pineapple drink. The food was equally as good, we got there for brunch and I started the day off with coffee, green smoothies, and chilaquiles. Around the pool, they have an extensive WET deck menu, where we enjoyed snacks like salsa and guacamole.
Other places to eat include their main restaurant called Venazú, and they have a Chevy truck converted into their “chevycheria” closer to the beach, everyone raves about the ceviche there. For dinner they have a restaurant called Spice Market that is open Wed-Mon, 6-11pm, we didn’t eat there but it has really great reviews.
LOUNGING BY THE POOL
The resort has two pools, the main one (shown above) is for everyone, and there is a smaller one for adults only (not shown). There are also two “hot tubs”, that were slightly warmer than the pool. We hung around the pool all day, ordering snacks and refreshing cocktails. I recommend getting a daybed if you plan on being there all day, it was comfy and shaded most of the day.
AT THE BEACH
One of my favorite parts about the W is that the resort is right on the beach. It was effortless to go back and forth from lounging at the pool and suntanning at the beach. The waitstaff will still serve you food and drinks from the beach lounge chairs.
The beach is a little bit rocky as you get closer to the water. It’s a great beach to go for a walk as it feels private and not touristy, it shares a long stretch with other private resorts. Surfboards, paddleboards, and kayaks are available to rent as well.
WHAT TO BRING
Overall, I highly recommend the W Punta de Mita as it was the perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and a vibrant atmosphere. The service was excellent, and the food and drinks were top-tier.
