The Details on my Dining Room

When I started piecing together my dining room, I wanted it to be more than just a spot to eat. I envisioned a space that would feel timeless, filled with elements that have a sense of history and character, yet still practical for hosting and everyday life.

With this being my first home, I also wanted something that could evolve with me over time. I focused on choosing simple and timeless furniture that I knew would be good base pieces as my style continued to evolve.

I’m excited to share the inspiration behind this space and some of my favorite elements that bring it all together. Plus, I’ll link to a few pieces in case you want to bring this look into your own home!

Dining Room Table

After six months of trying to find the perfect antique table and coming up with nothing, we decided to buy something brand new. We’ve had this Crate & Barrel table (82 in. option) now for over a year, and it’s one of our favorite purchases! It comfortably seats up to eight people, perfect for hosting dinner parties or family gatherings. I wanted something simple but timeless, so I could swap out the chairs as my style changes over the years. It has also been extremely durable and looks just like the day we got it, I think it would hold up great if you have kids.

Bookshelf: Display Your Treasures

One of the standout features of the dining room is the large white bookshelf that takes up a good portion of the entire wall. This bookshelf has become a display area for some of my most cherished thrift finds – from vintage books to art I found in Florence, Italy. I love these unique pieces that add character to the room. I love how each item tells a story, giving the space a lived-in, yet curated feel.

Thrifted Decor & Art

Dining Chairs

I went with these black spindle Windsor-style dining chairs from William-Sonoma because I like how the black is grounding, and I felt like having wood chairs would’ve brought too much wood-color into this space. These dining chairs are comfy and very well-made.

Artificial Trees: Add Some Greenery

My boyfriend and I travel frequently, so we appreciate the low responsibility of fake plants. I love the organic pop of green they give, they really breathe life into the space.

Lighting

I wanted to bring some texture into the room, so I found this rattan drum pendant light. I like the diffused light it gives off, while still brightening the room – creating an inviting atmosphere.
